Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered into a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies the response. Grant County Criminal History does not retain or record those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When you email us, the message may be kept for the purpose of responding. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation, and it is not otherwise shared with outside parties.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers may receive routine technical information whenever a visitor loads a page, including:
- The date and time associated with each page view
- The device's assigned IP address
- The referring website, when one is available
- The operating system and type of device in use
- The browser name and version
- The pages viewed and the time spent on them
Cookies and Analytics
Small files known as cookies may be stored on your device so we can understand how the site is used, such as which pages receive traffic and where visits end. Analytics providers help combine that activity into general measurements. You can disable cookies through your browser, although doing so may change how some site features work.

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Grant County Criminal History does not operate, compile, sell, or retain a database of personal criminal records. It provides general directions to official custodians, including Grant County courts and sheriff records, the Washington State Patrol and its WATCH service, and the Washington Sex Offender Public Registry. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not combined into consumer reports or third-party criminal-history profiles.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Information submitted through one of those boxes is governed by that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider controls its own retention, processing, and disclosure practices. Review the applicable partner policy before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Grant County offices, Washington court and agency portals, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once you follow a link away from this site, the destination's privacy policy applies. Read its terms before giving that organization personal information.
Advertising providers may also use their own systems to observe activity across websites and tailor ads. We do not operate that cross-site tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be received by:
- Government or law-enforcement entities responding to a valid legal order
- Advertising networks that deliver ads on site pages
- Search providers that process a query you choose to submit
- Analytics providers used to measure traffic and performance
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used security measures are applied to information we collect. No internet-connected service can guarantee perfect protection, however. We work to safeguard visitor data, but we cannot promise that unauthorized access or a security incident will never occur.
Users Under 18
This service is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a person younger than 18. If we learn that a minor provided personal data, we will remove it promptly.
Your Data Rights
Your location and the law that applies may provide additional rights concerning personal data. In Washington, the Public Records Act, chapter 42.56 RCW, governs access to records held by public agencies, while chapter 10.97 RCW governs criminal-history dissemination and a person's inspection or correction of their own state record. Those laws concern official records and do not make this private site a government custodian. At a minimum, you may:
- Request deletion of personal data we hold
- Ask for a copy of personal information kept about you
- Object to certain forms of data processing
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information
